Electronic Signatures and eLegalizace in Czechia 2026: When Online Signing Is Enough
Foreigners in Czechia often need to sign leases, car contracts or powers of attorney (plná moc). Czech law recognises several signature levels under eIDAS. Some authorities still require a verified (Czech POINT or notarial) signature — especially for vehicle registration or immigration-related POAs.

Three practical signature levels
Simple handwritten signature on paper — most common for private leases and car sales between individuals.
Advanced electronic signature (AES) — higher identity assurance; used in B2B online signing.
Qualified electronic signature (QES) — legal effect similar to handwritten signature under eIDAS; required for some official acts.
What eLegalizace does
eLegalizace helps verify an electronic signature or electronic copy online — useful for remote B2B deals.
It does not replace Czech POINT verification where an office explicitly requires úředně ověřený podpis for a power of attorney.
When to verify your signature
- Vehicle registry acts through a representative.
- Some immigration or landlord requirements for housing proof.
- High-value deals where the other party insists on verification.
Standard POA, private contracts, lease and car sale documents.
Notarial acts, land registry, contested validity of signature.
